The Club hosted an exciting new girl’s only Singles Tennis Tournament on Saturday 22nd June. Players travelled from as far as London on the day to enter this new open event at the Club.
The tournament was aimed for girls fairly new to competition with LTA ratings of 10.2 or 10.1. The draw was split into two separate boxes with a round robin played in each box. Winner of Box A Sarah Markus (RLTCC) went into the final against winner of Box B Sara Brooks (London). Despite Sara B’s strength and more powerful serve, Sarah M’s consistency and quick footwork around the court gave her the deserved victory to take home the winner’s trophy. Ffion Noott (Seaview Sports Club) played consistent tennis to take 3rd place over Naomi Goldthorpe (RLTCC) who admirably managed to finish the match, despite picking up an injury during her previous match.
