Croquet

The Club has four full sized croquet lawns and much effort is put in to ensure that these are kept to a high standard. Weekly during the season, between April and October, there are three Club “Mix-ins” for  Golf croquet.

three Club “Mix-ins” for  Golf croquet.  These are currently held on
Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 2 p.m. and include a break
for afternoon tea.
Association Croquet “Mix-ins” are held Monday and Saturday from 2 p.m. and Wednesday evening from 6 p.m., with coaching if required. Supper is often available at the Club on Wednesdays after play.
Beginners are welcome and the Club's four Croquet Association certificated coaches offer sessions in Association and Golf Croquet to anyone wishing to improve his/her game.
Three tournaments are usually run annually open to CA members, a Festival of Croquet in June, a National Golf qualification tournament in July, and an Association Handicap in September
The Club also runs a Members' League and Ladder and has teams entered in various outside events, including the Southern Federation Croquet League and the Inter-Counties League.
In recent years we have been fortunate to be offered the opportunity to host several prestigious Croquet Association national tournaments giving members the opportunity to observe, and sometimes take part in, matches with high ranking players.
In the autumn of 2009 an automatic irrigation system was installed by Watermation which should help to maintain the lawns in good condition and reduce the input from Club members which the previous labour intensive travelling irrigator required.
The Croquet Lawns and Clubhouse are also available for private hire. A Croquet coach can be provided to explain the rules of the game and the event tailored to your requirements. Consider a Croquet challenge with your friends and family, followed by tea and biscuits, or Pimms, cucumber sandwiches, strawberries and cream ..... how very beautifully British.
